Heat and Stick and October Trees

Standard

Well, fall is FINALLY in the air in New England.  I heard recently that someone had moved to San Diego for the weather….and within 6 months, had to leave as it was too perfect every day.   Strange….but I sort of get it.  I like to see the seasons change.   And things ARE changing here in Massachusetts.  Trees are turning and leaves are dropping.   The temperature is still quite mild but that will come….all too soon!

In any case, I was thinking while driving around town how you can pass the same trees every day, and not really notice them…..until October!   There is one tree in my town that is so beautiful and really stands out…..but only in October.  Weird, eh?   Do you know what I mean?  Do you have a favorite October tree?   Ok–clearly, I need more caffeine this am.

So today, I will share with you a card that reminds me of my favorite October tree:

Ok–I think if you follow my blog, you have figured out I LOVE the Magnificent Maple stamp.  I didn’t realize how much I use it.   Well–I can tell you for sure that this stamp is worth every penny!

Tips:   To get this sparkly look (and if you can’t see the sparkle, enlarge the photo–it WILL be worth it!), you need to use HEAT and STICK powder.  First—-stamp in Versamark ink.  Next, dump your Heat and Stick powder on.  Shake off excess and heat with heat tool.  (Essentially, you have just created “hot glue”—in an easy and precise way).   QUICKLY (but not frantically) pour on glitter (in this case, Pumpkin Pie Glitter). Shake off the excess and  then, again, heat briefly with the heat gun to set it.  Voila!

You might be wondering about the bow.   I am NOT a great bow maker– BUT–I can usually pull off an “air bow”.  That is when you just make a bow that is not attached to anything.   SO–that is just what I did.   I wrapped the ribbon around the card and adhered it to the back with adhesive.  Then, I made an “air bow” and attached it with “green glue” (Tombow Multipurpose Glue).  That is my go to adhesive for “heavier” things —like this.  It takes a bit to dry but I know it will hold.
