Stamp A Stack Samples

I had a great time this weekend meeting with my local group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.   They are so talented and FUN!   I challenged them to come up with some “Manly” card samples this month.   I will take photos today of their works of art to share with you.

In the meantime, it is Stamp  A Stack week.   That means I am having classes where we will make a stack of cards.   If you are local, I hope you can attend!  (RSVP here.)

I apologize for this photo.  (Can I just say, it is time for a new phone!).  In any case, I hope you get the idea.  These are two of the cards we will be doing this week:

blog 4:24

Both of these cards are using sets that will be retiring soon!  (Chase Your Dreams and Crazy About You).   I know!  It breaks my heart too!  If you want to see/purchase any retiring items, you can find then all here.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wowzer!  Stampin’ Up! announced their list of retiring products from both the Annual Catalog:

2016-annual-catalog_eng

And the Occasions Catalog:

20161007_occ17-cover_en-usThere are some fantastic products that are retiring that you will want to get your hands on before they are gone for good on May 31st.   Good news for you!  Some of those products are on sale for up to 50% off!!  That is great news.  The downside of that is that they are likely to sell out.

So carve out some time soon to sit down with your favorite beverage and go through the list.  Here is where you can see what is retiring and shop!

While I place orders pretty frequently, you will want to order these on my website right away so that you don’t get shut out.

NOW–I have also seen what is coming.   The future is bright!!!  Trust me!   More on that when I am able to share with you.

Thanks for stopping by.

su retiring list

Stampin’ Up! has announced the list of products that will be retiring from the current Holiday catalog.  That means, if you don’t get them now, you will have to pay a pretty penny for them on ebay.  And I would hate to see that happen.  SO–check out what is retiring  here.

The stamps will be available for sure thru Dec 28th.  The accessories, however, are until they sell out.  SO–get shopping!  Don’t miss out!

Once you have decided what you can’t live without, you can order it to be shipped directly to your home.

IF you are not in a current club, you can use the hostess code : NAV424HW

IF you are in a current club of mine, I will send you an email with the code.

Mother’s Love for Sunday AND Monday (challenges)!

Mother’s Love for Sunday AND Monday (challenges)!

I know, I know!  I have been a little MIA-ish lately.  Sorry—no excuses–just sorry!

I know that YOU know that there is a new Stampin’ Up! catalog around the corner.  I have seen it (altho online only—and we all know that is NOT the best way to truly enjoy it).  What I have seen–I like!!!   And I can’t wait to get playing with some new fun stuff.

That said, the “old catalogs” are not quite done yet and I want to give the products in them their due.  Today, I combined 2 different challenges (One from “Sunday” and one from “Monday”)and came up with a sample featuring s set that is not quite done yet, Mother’s Love:

Here is the sketch for the first challenge, Mojo Monday:

And then I found this challenge at Sunday Stamps:

So here is what i came up with :

blog may 11

The colors I chose to use were Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, and Smokey Slate.  The weird thing is, that Bermuda Bay Taffeta Ribbon (which, sadly,  is retiring) looks different colored in this photograph than it does in real life!  It must be one of those “Is the dress blue or gold?” things!

The little bit of “bling” I added was the In Color (soon to be “OUT colors”—Kidding—Coastal Cabana will never go out of style!)   sequins.  Here is a close up:

blog may11.1

Finally–I don’t know about you but I tend to buy (too much!) Designer Paper and then am hesitant to use it….just in case!  Well, my goal going forward is to use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without….Ok–truth be told:  I found that quote on Pinterest.  In any case, that is what I am going to attempt to do because–as it turns out—I have seen the new Stampin’ Up! catalog (sorry to rub that in again!) and the NEW Designer Series Paper is even better than the old one!!!  Yup!   So I am going to use up this paper and get myself the new one! Besides, nothing dresses up an envelope like lining it!

Card fit for Royalty??

Standard

Before I forget, I just wanted to remind you about the Catalog Kick Off Buy One Get One FREE Open House here on Saturday.   I have been working on the garage all week and transformed it into a Stamp Haven!   SO much available for you!   PLUS I have samples of new products and, of course, some stampin’ for you!  If you haven’t yet RSVP’d, please do so here.  That way, I will have enough materials for everyone.

Just a sampling of what is available!

Just a sampling of what is available!

Ok–so you might be wondering about what “Royalty” I am making cards for.   Here’s the scoop.  MONTHS ago, I met Shannon West, Stampin’ Up! Royalty and all around good soul, at a Stampin’ Up! event (?Leadership?).   I attended a class she taught and she asked us to give her something (I honestly don’t really remember any of this well) and maybe she would send a card some day.  Well, I did…and then I forgot (shocking!).

BUT—SHE–being Royalty and all–did NOT forget!  And on my birthday–she sent me a card!!!  NO KIDDING!

Well–I need to thank her.  So I altered a card we did at our team meeting a couple of weeks ago and this is what I am sending her:

blog june27

Hope she doesn’t read my blog–actually–I HOPE she DOES!  If you do, Shannon, act surprised when you get it!

So the reason this card really is for royalty is the gold glitter on it.   We used the Essential Wooden Elements and then adhered Gold Glitter on it with the Tombow Multipurpose Glue (“green glue”).   Did you know that that glue has two sides??  Yup!  there is a fine detail side (probably the one you use most) and then a “chunkier, flatter” side that is perfect for mushing glue onto wooden elements!   You have to wait a bit for it to dry but it is SO worth it!

Here is a close up of it:

blog june27.1

Ok–so you can’t see the glitter so much but you will have to trust me that is perfectly glittery!

I had a few pieces of this Typeset DSP left over in this odd size so I arranged them so the diagonal was “offset” a bit.  Turns out, it makes you less dizzy!   Win Win!

Hope she likes it!  I will let you know if I hear back!

Elephant Museum and Zoo Babies Card

Standard

I know I have been MIA for a bit.   Truth is, I was on a road trip to Knoxville, TN for the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2014!  My daughter’s team were the state champs for their challenge and level and earned this trip.  I am the team manager so I earned the right to drive the prop-filled van!  Actually, it was an amazing event and a very pleasant ride (until we hit Jersey—nothing  personal, Jersey!).   The highway we took nearly the whole way there and back, was lined with picturesque farms (At least it was picturesque to me—I think I want to live on a farm!).

On the way home, we passed this huge billboard in a cow pasture  in PENNSYLVANIA  advertising Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium– Free Admission.     I was thinking this is either  fantastic family fun or a horror film waiting to happen.   Being afraid it might be the latter, we passed on by.  BUT –when I got home, I checked it out (because and Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium is a hard thing to get out of your mind!) and it apparently is quite popular.  You can check it out here.

So that got me thinking about a card I made for my cousin before I left and forgot to post.  My cousin is a GRANDFATHER!!!!   I know, I can’t believe it either!!!   In any case, he has a granddaughter, Madelyn.   Here is the card I made for Grandpa Mike and Grandma Sue:

The DSP is from Gingham Garden and is retiring in jut a couple of days.   You do need to use your Stamp A Ma Jig for the words–there is no getting around that one.   My advice:  Move your Melon Mambo and Smokey Slate ink pads FAR apart from each other so you don’t accidently stamp your stamp in the wrong color when you get on a roll….You KNOW you’ve done it!!

Good news for you!  Everything on this card is still available….for a few days anyhow.   Be sure to click on the items below to get more info or order.

Stamps:  A Dozen Thoughts, Zoo Babies

Paper and Ink:  Gingham Garden DSP, Smokey Slate, Melon Mambo, Whisper White

What does YOUR Mother’s Day card look like?

Standard

A couple of months ago (or at least it seems that long ago!), our team of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators got together for a “Shoebox Swap”.   Really–there are no shoeboxes that are p at one of these events.  What we do is we each design a card and then bring all the supplies used to make that card.  We then each make each other’s cards and leave with a pile of cards and ideas.   Fun, no?

So the last shoebox swap theme was Mother’s Day/Weddings.

Here was the card that I shared that could work for either:

This was so easy to do.

After that, I just stamped a bunch of the new Petite Petals flowers and PUNCH (LOVE  that bundle!).  I placed them as I thought they would go and then altered them as needed before adhering.

So in the end, this is MY Mother’s Day card:  (Hope she doesn’t see this before Sunday—Although, my mother HATES computers so I think I am safe!)

Thanks for stopping by.  I know I have been a little “scattered” with posts lately (If you think the posts are scattered, you should see the inside of my brain!) as there is much going on….all good–just “much”.  So I thank you for sticking with me.

As you know, Stampin’ Up! released their annual list of retiring items , including stamp sets, a few weeks ago.  As a result, those items and stamp sets have been going like hotcakes!  (What a weird expression—-You would think “waffles” would go quicker!) You should check out the list here and get ordering what you know you can’t live without.

Normally, this time of year, I show you things you can do with these soon to be retired sets.  But because I don’t want you to fall in love with something you can’t have, I decided on a new plan this year.  My next few posts will be things still available….just in case you fall in love!

One of my favorite accessories in the catalog is the Linen Trim Ribbon.     And it is going away!  It will sell out–it is THAT good!    I know it has had a good run for a couple of years now but I am not done loving it!  So–while stamping today, look what I discovered!

blogmay6.1

TWO-SIDED RIBBON!   Ok–I know it is not earth shattering but I honestly never thought of the back side of this Chevron Ribbon!  It is slightly wider than the Natural Trim I love but not much!   I can work with this (and so can you!)

Today, I wanted to share with you a sample of a set that has no plans on retiring anytime soon (or at least for a year!).   I haven’t stamped in too long and haven’t done a challenge in even longer so I set out to do this today.   I found this sketch at As You See It:

AYSIChallenge035-1024x1024

Here is what I came up with using Daydream Medallions:

blogmay6

I know what you are thinking:  It doesn’t look anything like the sketch–where is your tag?   The sketch is INSPIRATION, people!  I saw the sketch, saw the OTHER side of the ribbon and went with it!

And did you know there is a framelit collection that matches this set???  Those sneaky people at Stampin’ Up!–Always thinking!

Here is another angle of it so you can see the dimension.

blogmay6.2

And here are some of the details:

blogmay6.3

Oops–I see a little smudgey next to the ribbon.  Ah well–hand made!   Got to love it!

Let me know what you think–what is YOUR favorite retiring product?   And stop by my store to do some shopping before it is gone!

Here are the materials used to make this card:

Ink and Paper:  Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Naturals Ivory, Basic Grey
