Little love from home

Little love from home

Well it is here—The week of love!   Apparently in other parts of the world, Valentine’s Day is really just for you and your significant other.   But we all know, from preschool on, in THIS country we share the love .   Parties in school are a BIG deal (Truth:  I sent my daughter to school sick when she was in 3rd grade because she couldn’t stand missing her “party”.   It may be too late but I do apologize to anyone she subsequently infected!).   You send valentines to everyone–whether you liked them or not!

It appears that the sweet treats that used to accompany those little cards have been replaced by sugar-free, gluten-free, fun-free pencils but we still insist on sharing the love on Valentine’s day.

I have 2 kiddies in college.   I am always looking for a reason to send some love from home.   What better reason than Valentine’s Day?  (Side note:  Both colleges contacted me to see if I would like to pay them to send my kiddie a package of love–Let me tell you–NEITHER school would have packaged up something this cute!)

So here is what they are getting (Spoiler alert if either are reading this):

(**The box is filled with sugar, gluten and fun)

The milk carton is pretty easy to make and I used the pattern from Pootles here.

As I said, I have 2 kids so I needed to make 2.   As I couldn’t decide which colors I wanted, I made them opposite:

Painted with Love Specialty DSP has this great gold foil accent in it (tough to see here but the “yellowish” hearts are actually gold.   So I cut out some gold foil paper for the “YOU” on the milk carton-y box and the stripe across the card.   IMG_7749

To make “YOU” stand out , be different than everyone else!  KIDDING!  To make “YOU” stand out, I cut out 2 images and layered them together.   I used those new A-DOOR-able mini dimensionals on the back.

By the way, the “YOU” is from a FREE Sale A Bration thinlits die set, Celebrate You!   You can get his set of thinlits FREE until the end of March when you place a qualifying order.    Check it out here.

The inside of the card is simple and I left lots of room to write my message.

IMG_7751There is NO reason to hold on to your designer paper–there WILL be more.  It really adds a nice touch to the inside of the card….and you don’t have to write as much!

Thanks for stopping by.   Please feel free to contact  me with any questions or supplies you might need for your own paper crafting.

Bloomin’ Love Video

It has been years–YEARS, people! since I made a video. Today, I took a leap and made a new one. Please, be kind….and enjoy:

This was one of the cards we made last night at An Unlikely Story.  By the way–If you are local, you NEED to check this great place out!  It is beautiful and they have some great classes/events….and coffee, beer and wine–‘Nuff said!

Not all Valentine cards need to be red and white. I like the softer look of Crumb Cake and Soft Sky on Vanilla.

Check out the Bloomin’ Love stamp set here along with the Bloomin’ Hearts Thinlits.

Thanks for stopping by. Visit my shop here to purchase any Stampin’ Up goods you need.

Super Bowl Hostess Gift

It is a big week here in New England.   Our Patriots are going to the Super Bowl (cough, again).   I will not get smug about this.  I know lots of people hate the Patriots.   BUT–regardless, I think you will  like this adorable project inspired by the talented flutterbyheidi.   I made  her original project and loved it so much I thought I would create a Superbowl 6-Pack as well.  Check it out here:IMG_7678

This is created with the adorable new bundle, Bubble Over .

If you haven’t yet checked out the bundle, let me tell you why you need it:

  • It is a great set for kiddies.
  • It is a great set for men.
  • You can make beer bottles out of this.

There are very few stamp sets that can do all that!   This is a bundle you will be glad you have and use it for a long time to come!

You can order it here.

If you do have it already, why not make a little hostess gift for the Super Bowl  Party you will be attending this weekend…even if that hostess is YOU!

Thanks for stopping by.

Go Pats (cough-again).

My Rules that I Broke

My Rules that I Broke

This week, I held my first Stamp a Stack of the year.   If you are unfamiliar with that, it when you come make a bunch of cards so that you have them on hand when you need them….and when DON’T you need them?   Well the theme this month was Birthdays.   You would think as a card maker, I would always have birthday cards on hand and mailed right on time.  You would be wrong!

In any case, while I was creating the cards for the class, I challenged myself to make one of the cards a masculine card.   While they are not rocket science, making masculine cards is generally more difficult for me.

My go-tos for masculine card rules are:

  • neutral colors
  • texture
  • no ribbon
  • no glitter
  • no sequins,
  • no fun stuff!

So here is what I came up with:

So I broke 2 of my rules!

First rule I broke was No Ribbon.   Behind the tree layer, you can see the burlap ribbon.   Oops.  So I am changing up the rule:  No bows!

Rule number 2 that I broke was about the glitter!    It is difficult to see on line so let me try to show you with this:

After embossing the trees with the Woodland Embossing Folder, I quickly “painted” a little sparkle on the trees using Wink of Stella.  While this product is technically called a “glitter brush”, I think of it more as a “card enhancer”.   I think in the end, it added just the right amount ‘somethin’ somethin” I was looking for.  (Technically, this addition broke 2 rules as Wink of Stella is the definition of FUN STUFF!!–If you haven’t tried it yet, you must!)

I did stick to the neutrals rule as you can see.   The background is from the often overlooked Tree Rings background stamp.  (Truth be told, I originally planned on using the Wood Textures Designer Paper but didn’t have enough for all the cards so I substituted with this fun background stamp. )

So I challenge you to go make a card and break a couple of rules!

Thanks for stopping by.   Contact me should you have any questions or need any supplies!  Happy to help.

SO much has been going on in the past few weeks and I have been soaking up all that is good in my life….and have not blogged…..not that blogging is not good!

In any case, I need to fill you in on some things that need attention NOW!

  1.   Stamparatus!    This little beauty was introduced to us at the recent Stampin’ Up! Onstage event.   While I had been on a “commitee” working on this for quite some time, I had NO idea it would be as great as it is!   I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I know! And when you see it in REAL life, it will be even better!
It is so popular, however, and Stampin’ Up! wants you to get your hands on it asap that they came up with a new way to distribute it. You will need to RESERVE your Stamparatus and it will begin shipping around March 19th.

IF you don’t act on this though, you will need to wait until JUNE! JUNE is SO far away!!!! Don’t miss out!
You can reserve yours now by going here and clicking on the Stamparatus link (middle right of screen). If you don’t have an account with me yet, just set one up and you will be good to go.

Now, while you are at it, Stampin’ Up! is having a Year End Sale. Many of these items are being retired. They are available until they are gone….or Jan 2nd with ever comes first. So check those out here.

While you are checking that out, you might as well check the newly restocked Clearance Rack here.

They are available until January 2nd because, beginning January 3rd, the new catalogs go live!!!!   If you haven’t yet received one, please let me know and I will get right on it.

Ok–That is enough when you thought your day was going to be so relaxing, right?    After you check out what you need to on my site, take time to soak up that which makes you happy–be it fudge, binge watching Fixer Upper, reading a new book you got for longer than just one chapter, or spending time with those who make you happy!!

LOTS of Stamps…So very little time!

LOTS of Stamps…So very little time!

I have had such a great stamping week!   I began my week in Salt Lake City at the Stampin’ Up! Onstage Live (think stamping convention) checking out all the great things on the horizon with about 2,500 like minded demonstrators.    THEN, I got to teach a class at An Unlikely Story  –the most amazing, cozy bookshop EVER!   I had a ball working with the women that came to make cards–all of them brand new and all of them official card makers!   And as soon as I finish this post, I get to go work with another group of card makers at the Taunton Library!

Could it be better?   Sure, Betty, if something was on sale!   Well good news!  Beginning Monday, Stampin’ Up! is offering an Online Extravaganza for this coming week.   We don’t have all the details yet but I CAN tell you that Monday the week kicks off with LOTS of stamps on sale.    Read on for details:

So many great stamps going on sale for ONE DAY ONLY!! Stamp Sale starts November 20 12:00 AM and ends November 20 11:59 PM.

TAMS link Builder-29

I will be back later when I get the details on the rest of the week but if you have been eyeing any of these, be sure to place your order here on MONDAY!!!

Drum roll please……….

That is right! It is FINALLY here! I have been involved with a group of demonstrators across the country giving my input into this amazing product for a while now. I am so happy to be able to share that it is ready! And it is amazing–even more helpful than I imagined. Check it out!

This is going to be a game changer for those of you that like precision. And for those of you that are a little more Loosey Goosey-you, too, are going to love it. I promise.  Do you make multiples of the same project?  The Stamparatus is perfect for that.   Do you sometimes mess up when you stamp your greeting (either not enough ink or crooked placement)?   The Stamparatus will solve that too!

The Stamparatus is different than other stamp placement products on the market.   There are multiple plates allowing for 2 (or 3 or 4!) step stamping.   The plates are hinged and removable–allowing for easy repetitive stamping.   You can also use this with any sized paper.

And–it is only $49 (US)!!

Did I mention you are going to love this?

Now, how to get one of your very own?:   Stampin’ Up! is releasing this product in a new way.   You will reserve your Stamparatus during 1 of 3 different reservation windows  and it will ship later.  Check out the reservation and shipping windows:

November 16–30, 2017 Approx. February 1, 2018
December 5–30, 2017 Approx. March 19, 2018
January 15–30, 2018 Approx. April 15, 2018

Here is what the screens will look like when you reserve your Stamparatus:

Q: How do I reserve my Stamparatus?
A: Normally you order Stampin’ Up! products through my online store but in this case, you will click the RESERVE link on the Stamparatus page which will take you to the reservation page.

Q: What if I do not have a Stampin’ Up! customer account?
A: To reserve a Stamparatus, you must have a customer account. To create one, click Create Account on my online store or click here:

Q: Why does it take so long for the Stamparatus to ship?
A: We will place an order with the manufacturer based on how many reservations are made during any given reservation window. Shipping dates depend on how long it takes the order to arrive in our warehouse after the tools have been manufactured.

Q: Am I billed at the time I reserve my Stamparatus?
A: No. However, a credit card is required to reserve the product (much like when you place a reservation with a hotel).

Q: When will I be charged for the Stamparatus?
A: When inventory arrives in the warehouse, we will add your reservation to a shopping cart. We will then send you an email notifying you that your Stamparatus order is ready. Once you finalize payment and close your order, the system will charge your credit card.

Q: Will I be able to add other products to my Stamparatus reservation?
A: No  but once your reservation is transferred to your shopping cart, you will then be able to add other items to your order and take advantage of any specials Stampin’ Up! is running at that time.  Important note: Please do not delete the Stamparatus from your order. We will not be able to add it back and you will lose your reservation.

Q: Will I be able to update my address and credit card information when I open my shopping bag to complete my order?
A: Yes.

Q: What if I change my mind and want to cancel my reservation?
A: You can cancel your reservation at any time. To cancel, please see the How to Reserve Your Stamparatus Tutorial for Customers PDF.

Q: Will the tool be available in the 2018–2019 annual catalog?
A: Yes. Once the annual catalog ordering period begins, you will be able to order the Stamparatus as you would any other product. Reservations will no longer be required, and there will be no limit on the number of tools you can order.

Q: Once the Stamparatus has been added to my shopping cart, how long will it stay there?
A: Indefinitely. As with all products, it will be subject to temporary interruptions in availability depending on demand.

Q: When I close my order, can I take advantage of current Stampin’ Up! promotions?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I participate in all three reservation periods?
A: Yes.

Q: How many stamp placement tools can I reserve per reservation window?
A: For customers, there is a limit of 1 per reservation window.

I know this is a lot to absorb as this is a new product and a new way to get that product.   I know you are going to love it.   Don’t forget that the first day of the first reservation window is TOMORROW (Nov. 16th!).   Don’ miss out!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.    I am happy to help out.

Life IS a Beautiful Thing….even though sometimes it is tough….and how to effectively Kiss Off!

Life IS a Beautiful Thing….even though sometimes it is tough….and how to effectively Kiss Off!

So much is going on the world in general….and even in your own personal worlds.   I feel a bit ridiculous but I am having my own personal pity party today.

Yesterday, we dropped off my youngest daughter at college   I know as a parent, you work towards the day your child  will be independent and go out into the world to learn who they are, be what they will be, and share what they can share.   But when that day comes,   the practicality of knowing it is the right thing does not ease the reality!

Not only that–but it is the end of the summer!  At least here in NE, Mother Nature is not letting us forget that fall is on the horizon.   It has been chilly!!   Great for sleeping but not great for trying to savor what is left of summer!!

I have a little card to share with you today that we did with my stamp clubs earlier this summer.

blog 8:29

This is from the crazy popular stamp set called Colorful Season.    Check out the stamp set:

I have not seen anything but great cards come out of this stamp set.   Every year, Stampin’ Up! introduces a must have set –THIS is this year’s set!!   I will share more of this set with you throughout the year as you can see it is perfect for every season.  Today, however, I want to focus on SUMMER!

You may wonder how I got the look of the polka dotted beach chair.   It is a technique called “Kiss Off”!  Technically, I don’t know if that is the name but that is the name I am using.

I inked  the chair in the new–and wonderful- Lemon Lime Twist ink.

Before stamping on the paper, I used another image (from Timeless Textures) and stamped (uninked) directly onto the inked beach chair image.

The result of this is that some of the ink on the chair stamp is actually removed by the polka dot stamp.   Magic, right?  Just imagine the possibilities for your bold stamps now!

(*If you stamp an inked image onto the first image, the technique is called Kissing.  Since I was technically REMOVING ink from the first image, I am calling it Kissing Off!)

And one more time, here is the final product:

blog 8:29

And just in case you wonder where the top “messy” stuff is from, that is ALSO from Timeless Textures!   (Get the message?  You need that stamp set too!)

I sponged the sand and then added a little Wink Of Stella–which NEVER translates in a picture.  It is just like real beach sand with a little glimmer.
