In Colors Two Ways

In Colors Two Ways

Last night I had “Shoebox Swap” with a bunch of demonstrator friends.   We did NOT swap Shoeboxes–THAT seems ridiculous!  What we did do is make and swap cards–NOT ridiculous!  We come up with one idea for a card, make it, get the materials together for our friends to make it and then stamp each other’s cards!

Here is my card:

LOVE this new stamp set, Crafting Forever.

Pair this up with the new In Colors from Stampin’ Up! and you have a simple, stunning card.   I feel this is very Vera Bradley-ish.   I would buy this bunch of pens in a heartbeat!

Now, to color in these pens, you have some options.   You can use the Stampin’ Write Markers which have a thin tip for detailed work or a brush tip for a wider stroke or coloring directly on stamps.  The image comes out like this:

The colors come out quite bold.

If you are looking for a softer look, you can go with the Blender Pen/Ink pad lid option!   Here is how that works:   turn your ink pad over (CLOSED!) and squeeze the top and bottom together (for some reason–works better if you turn it over.   Don’t know why–just reporting the facts!).  When you open the ink pad up, you will see that you have created a pool of ink there.   Then, using a Blender pen, you can pick up the ink  and color in your image. When you are ready to move on to a new color, just clean off the blender pen by rubbing it on your scrap paper until you don’t see any more color.  Then pick up a new color ink and repeat.

This allows for a softer, more subtle effect.

So there you have it:  In Colors two ways!

Last chance to Sale A Brate!

Last chance to Sale A Brate!

Today is the last day of Sale A Bration!  But there is still time and there are plenty of goodies to be had!  By far, the most overlooked yet the most versatile stamp set being offered for free during Sale a Bration is Perfect Pairings:

perfect pairings

This stamp set has so many great sentiments and comes in both Clear Mount or Wood Mount.   (I am a fan of the wood mount as it is easier to use when stamping with friends or mass producing–and you will see this would be an easy set to pull out in either of those cases.)

I just want to show you how easy this set is to use and why you need it in your arsenal whether you are a new or experienced stamper.  Take a look at these cards–stamped ONLY with words from this set:

(This uses the Birthday Bouquet DSP from Occasions catalog and the Chalk Talk Framelits.)

blog 3:31.1

(This uses the Cherry On Top DSP, Jute Ribbon (cut down), and InColor Blossom Accents)

blog 3:31.2

(This uses Large Polka Dots Embossing Folder and the Calypso Coral Thick Baker’s Twine.)

So easy to put these cards together.  I am not kidding–you need this set!   If you already own it, it would be a great gift for a crafter as it has go-to greetings.

SO–What can you get in order to qualify for your Sale a Bration freebie, you ask?   I have two (strong) suggestions:

pp during SAB

Not only is this a great deal because it is on sale but you will get an EXTRA stamp set in the April Paper Pumpkin coming in a few weeks!! AND–you can gift this to someone if you would like! WIN ~ WIN!

The next thing I would recommend is to stock up on all your current–but soon to be retiring In Color supplies:

I can tell you, we do not yet know if there will be a “Color Renovation” where some colors become part of the permanent collection.  I can also tell you, these items generally sell out well before the new catalog hits so if you want them, NOW is the time!

I have seen the future…. And It looks good!

I have seen the future…. And It looks good!

I have have seen the future…..and it looks good!!!!

Yesterday, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators all over the world got to see the brand new catalog which goes “live” on June 2nd.   Can I just say, “Squeal!”?!?!   It is great.  Lots of fun ahead, my friends!

So one of the most anticipated questions on all stampers minds has been answered!  We have seen the new in colors for 2015-17.  Drum roll please…..

imageWhich will be your fav???  So far, I think the Watermelon will be mine but I need to see them in “real life” before I can say for sure.

Do you wanrt to see them in real life?  Well, I am working on my Buy One Get One free sale/catalog kick off so stay tuned for details!

Refreshing colors…..Will there be drinks at this pool party?

Ok—so if you know me, you know I have been campaigning for some time now so that Pool Party could be a “REAL” color and not just an “in color”.   I even had a little chat with Sarah Douglas, daughter of Shelli Gardner, assigner of all “real” colors. (Actually, I don’t know if she is technically in charge of the colors but in my dreams she is.)   Well, Sarah apparantly listened!!!   Pool Party made the cut!~!!    After checking the computer, I ran back up to my room to let my sleepy husband in on the good news, ‘Pool Party is for REAL now!” to which he responded, “Will there be drinks at this pool party?”   WHAT??!!

Check out this video for a closer look at the colors:

In any case, I couldn’t be happier.   As you can see, there are a few previous IN colors that made the list and as a result, a few “old” colors that are getting (pretty in) Pink Slips”

*I can honestly say I am a bit sad about River Rock…..but you don’t care what I like—-you care what YOU like and what YOU will be missing!!!   Well, good news.   Stampin’ Up! is offering FREE shipping this weeend (the 6-8th) so this is the PERFECT time for you to stock up on all the items (ink pads, refills, paper, ribbons, buttons, markers, etc) of your favorites going to the great color cemetary in the sky!)

SO–get over to my website NOW, and stock up on all of your retiring favorites!  They are NOT going to last long–trust me on this one!  I know things—-saw that Pool Party REAL color thing coming, didn’t I??   If you choose to wait (and that MAY be risky—but you gots to ask yourself, “Do you feel lucky?….Well, Do ya??”), you can order on the 6th (that is tomorrow or 2 am east coast time) for free shipping.   BUT, if they sell out, they are out…..trust me on that one too!!
