Free Bugs!

Free Bugs!

Hey!   Did you realize that NEXT week is Daylight Savings?  …Or the END of daylight savings???   I never know which.   In any case, you are going to loose sleep.   But have no fear because summer is coming!  AND with summer comes bugs and plants… So in honor of that….and because I have a Stamp A Stack next week and just made this sample (wink!), here is a fun card to share with you:

It is tough to see (Ok–impossible!) but there is a window sheet in the “magnifying glass” and it is on  to make it “real”.   So fun!  I copied this card from a fellow demonstrator and team member, Debbie FITZgerald.  Thanks, Debbie!

This great paper, Inside the Lines,  is FREE from Stampin’ Up! during Sale a Bration when you spend $50 or more.  There are 4 different patterns to choose from (3 sheets of each )in the package of 12 x 12 paper.    Right now, these “coloring sheets” are very trendy.  I, personally, enjoy them…but feel a bit guilty just sitting around coloring…but when you are sending a card—that is all together different!

This card actually comes together quickly as there is NOT a lot of coloring involved….unless you want it to be!

If you are local, would love you to be able to attend my Stamp A Stack next week where this will be just one of the cards you make.  You can see details and RSVP here.

Time Out for an Elephant

I have been featuring cards made with Beautiful You stamp set this week but I want to take a time out for an elephant.  Elephants are ALL over the place and very trendy right now.  I just googled it and here is just a sampling of what is out there:

I feel like I might need that pillow!

I found this on the web so it must be true:

The elephant is associated with Buddha and the Indian deity Ganesh and can be used to symbolize power, wisdom, strength, protection of the home, fertility, and general good luck. Many Feng Shui practitioners believe that elephants should have their trunks facing upwards to represent prosperity, good luck, and success.

Be wary if that $85 elephant bank up above!!

Stampin’ Up! released a new stamp in the Occassions catalog called —wait for it–

Lucky Elephant .  Here is the 2 piece stamp set:

Adorable, right?  AND his trunk is lucky!!   Here is a quick card I made with it:

To get this multicolor look, I used the “Baby Wipe Technique”.  It is simple to do.  You place several layers of baby wipes (2- 3 of them) on a plate so that it has a little “squish” to it.  Using 3 different colors of reinkers, you squeeze the ink onto the baby wipes randomly and let the colors bleed together.  This happens quickly.  Then stamp your image.   No 2 will look the same.   For this sample, I used Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo and Eggplant Envy.  You can get quite a few images before you need to reink again.

To finish it off, I used some Rhinestones along his blanket (a little tough to see in this photo) and up along the greeting.  The Elegant Dots embossing fold was the perfect texture to finish this off.

I LOVE this elephant and I hope you do to.  If you find you need it in your collection (and you do!—it represents power, wisdom, strength, protection of the home, fertility, and general good luck, after all!) you can get it right here.

Quick and Simple, Fun and Fresh

Quick and Simple, Fun and Fresh

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!   I know you got some goodies you are grateful for!    Even if you weren’t grateful for what you received, I know you are grateful for the givers!   It is time to thank those gift givers!

Today, I had a few minutes to spend in my “lab” and while I was dying to play with the new goodies I have from the Occasions and Sale A Bration catalogs (more on that later!), I knew I needed to make a few “Thank You” cards.

I had a lot of precut cardstock from a previous project and as part of my “Clean Out This Messy Stamp Lab” campaign (Real campaign!–in my house, anyway!), I decided that I would make it work for my Thank You needs.

Quick and simple yet fresh and fun!  (Isn’t that all we ever really want?!)

(We dodged a snow storm here in Southeastern Mass but I know that is not true everywhere.   But no matter, the first few snows of the year and pretty and no one is bitter yet.  This card SHOULD bring joy and not anger to anyone yet as it is only Dec. 30th!)

Here is the inside:

Sweetest thank you phrase ever!   This is from Thankful Thoughts.   The stamp set itself is the classic Sheltering Tree.  Both of these products can be found in the Annual 2016-17 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

Now–I know we are all like kids when it comes to new fun toys.   And Stampin’ Up! knows this is the best time of year to get some new fun toys so they have come out with a BRAND new catalog, Occasions 2017 Catalog.   Stampin’ Up! also knows there is nothing better than NEW AND FREE so they have also come out with the Sale A Bration 2017 catalog!!   Sale a Bration runs from Jan 4- the end of March.  During that time, when you purchase $50 worth of products, you will get to choose a FREEBIE from the SAB catalog!!  ~~

~~That can’t be true!  Oh, but it is!!

And if you are customer of mine and have not yet received your catalogs in the mail, please, please call on me and I will remedy that situation ASAP!   If you don’t yet have a demonstrator and want a catalog, again, call on me.

For those of you who are local, I have a Stamp a Stack of cards coming up in Jan featuring lots of new goodies from the Occasions catalog.  You can check out  the schedule here.

So to close out 2016, think of those you are grateful for and drop them a handmade note.  It will mean more to them than you know!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Thoughtful Branches Coming Soon!

Thoughtful Branches Coming Soon!

I AM in love!!  Thoughtful Branches is a brand new bundle being offered by Stampin’ Up! August 2-31 (while supplies last).

Hands down the BEST BUNDLE EVER released by Stampin’ Up!

This is what it looks like.   Oodles of stamps and fantastic framelits to match.  When I tell you this is the most versitile stamp set I have ever used, I am not kidding.   It helped that the good and wise people of Stampin’ Up! released this set to the Artisans (REALLY talented stampers) ahead of the rest of us.  They got the ideas rolling.  You can see THEIR ideas beginning here.

The bundle is $52 (US) and I won’t even bother giving you the stamp set and framelit prices separately because it would just be plum crazy NOT to get the bundle!

I received my bundle last week and began to copy ideas and then I just couldn’t stop.   I LOVE this bundle (Did I mention that??)

This weekend was my team meeting.  Here is one of the make and takes we did (actually–this is slightly altered as I sponged brayered Island Indigo and then added a layer of Night of Navy towards the top).

Blog 7:25

While this set does not specifically have any holiday greetings, you can see how it could be easily used for your Christmas –or winter cards.

Tip:  In my opinion, the framelits with this set work best with the Precision Cutting plate.–and there is a fair amount of “paper poop” —but SO worth it!

Now–how do you get this, you ask?

IF you are in a club of mine, I will email you the code for your club order.   You can use that beginning on August 2nd.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can go here to order it–beginning August 2nd.   I would appreciate it if you use this hostess code: KFS969D2

If you do, I will send you another card made with this gorgeous bundle.

**Note:  Stampin’ Up! is offering this as a limited time deal.  They say if it sells well, we might see it again somewhere but no promises (I said that, not Stampin’ Up!).  That said, order it  (on August 2nd) right away and get busy!  You are going to love this set YEAR round!!

Stay tuned as I have LOTS more samples using this set.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bonus Days and Moroccan Nights

Bonus Days and Moroccan Nights

Check out this little gift!!

Stampin’ Up! just announced this deal and I thought I would help you out with some ideas for what you need to buy!  (Like you needed help!)

Yesterday,  got the opportunity to play around with one of my new favorite stamp sets, Moroccan Nights.  Anybody that knows me knows that one of my favorite places in the world is Disneyworld!   And one of my favorite parts of Disneyworld is World Showcase in Epcot.   And one of my favorite countries in the World Showcase is Morocco.

morocco(Truth be told–I love ALL of Disney World–all the parks and all the countries)  Look at this–how could you not love this detail.   It is said that Moroccan government officials were actually sent  to Disney to help with the design of this place.  I have never been to Morocco but I am pretty sure it paid off!

When the new catalog came out and I saw this stamp set , Moroccan Nights, I knew it would be mine.   And then I saw the matching DSP, well– it was love!

Seriously–look at this:

SU Moroccan Night

LLLLLAAAAAAAAAA –craft angels singing!    I was determined to make something that would be fitting these gorgeous lanterns:

Moroccan Lantern

Well, Stampin’ Up! recently introduced Copper Embossing Powder which perfectly complients the rest of the Moroccan Suite.  I haven’t heat embossed in FOR-ever!   When I first learned to stamp, THAT was THE technique!!!   When I first heat embossed–I was HOOKED!   Today, I heat embossed and I felt just like I did 20 years ago when I first embossed!  There is something so magical (lanterns–wink!) about watching that powder melt!

BUT–be careful!  When you are embossing on a little piece of paper, you don’t want to burn your fingers!   Those finger are essential for stamping!  So here is a little tip:

Blog 7:7-clothespin

This is an aside but recently, my high school graduate daughter asked me what you call “those things”!!!  WHAT?!?!   Oy!   In her defense, I only use them for crafting and not laundry but really?!?

Ok–back to the card.

blog 7:7-cord

Once I was done embossing the image, I thought it needed something–like light!

blog 7:7-Aquapainter

Once you have embossed the image, it is so easy to color in as the ink stays within the boundaries of the embossed image.    I added some Delightful Dijon as it matched the DSP.

Here is the final result:

blog 7:7-card

Because I am a Gemini and because there are so many more choices of paper to use, I also made these:

blog 7:7-collage

I know you are going to want this Suite!   Actually, I know this really isn’t everyone’s style but if you have read this far, it surely is YOUR style!

Check it out here.   And don’t forget, for each $50 you spend from now until the end of the month, you will earn yourself some free $$ to use next month!

Palindrome Anniversary!

Palindrome Anniversary!

This past weekend was my parents’ 56th anniversary—56th!   You read that right!  So that certainly called for a special card.    I had in mind that I wanted a card with the their actual wedding date–June 11th, 1960.   Now, I have been making them anniversary cards for a few years now and I certainly have KNOWN their anniversary!  BUT–it wasn’t until I was creating this card that I realized their anniversary date was a palindrome?  That means it is the same forward as backwards—like ‘civic’ and ‘kayak’.   Truth is, I don’t know if dates can be palindromes but I am going with it!

Here is the card:(Side note: this card actually has 3 color blues on it….as homage to the fact that my parents at one time had a different color blue on every side of their 4 sided house…..but that is another story!)

blog 6:16:16

Turns out, THEY never knew about this palindrome thing either!  If they had, I bet their wedding invites would have looked a lot like this!   Or at least their “Save the Date” cards….like anybody needed a card to remember to save the date in 1960….

I also found out this weekend that this date is the date on the iconic Norman Rockwell wedding license picture!

So you can see, it was a match made in heaven—or at least in Olneyville, RI!

If you too, would like to make a date card, you can check out Large Number Framelits and Number of Years stamp set I used.
