Very Jackie O!

Standard

Yesterday, I shared my Kick-line Card with you here.  I told you there was SO much you could do with this Beautiful You new stamp set by Stampin’ Up!   I wasn’t kidding!     I feel like this image in this set was made with Jackie O in mind.

What do you think?

I am NOT a fussy cutter unless there is no way to get the look I am going for except to fussy cut.   I would say, however, it was worth it in this case.  Truth:  only took me a few seconds to cut the dress out.  An the impact was worth it.   I used the elegant Floral Boutique DSP here.  I stamped the image on the cardstock and then stamped a second image right onto the DSP in order to Paper Piece it onto the card.

Do you need this set yet?  If not, stay tuned–I have more coming!

If so, you can purchase it and any other stamp supplies you need right here.

Got Scraps?

Got Scraps?

If you are reading my blog and you are not a family member, I KNOW you have scraps of designer paper.   I have been on a campaign for the past few years to use up my designer paper.   The struggle is real!   You know you LOVE that piece of DSP and know you will never love another quite as much…so you never use it….saving it for just the right situation…..But that situation never arrises as you discover NEW, better designer paper–and ultimately forget about that “perfect” paper of yesteryear!

Just use it up!!!!!!!

And here is a great way to use up those little “bits” that are cluttering up your desk, as such, cluttering up your life!!!  Who needs a cluttered life?  ESPECIALLY on day 2 of the new year!!  I am here to help with your “De Cluttering” resolution!

Bonus–This will ALSO help with your “Keep in touch with those that really matter AND send out those cards I have been making” resolution!

This SIMPLE card uses a new stamp set called So Very Much that will be FREE during Sale A Bration (starting in just 2 short days!).   It is a sweet greeting set and the font is fresh and LARGE (when you want to send a note but don’t really want to write a lot!).

This card uses Stampin’ Up! Notecards and Envelopes.  You might not be aware we sell these but they are fantastic for a quick little note, come in White or Crumb Cake, AND just require REGULAR postage! 133766s

Here is another sample (from the same pile of scraps, mind you!) with the details.   So easy, so quick!  You’re welcome!

Thanks for stopping by.  Now get going on those resolutions!!!

Holiday Stamp a Stack

Holiday Stamp a Stack

WOW!   It has been a while since I have checked in and I apologize.

I wanted to share with you a couple of cards we will be making at my first Holiday Stamp a Stack next week.   If you are local, it would be great to see you.  (Register here).

These cards are FULL of texture.  In fact, the texture on both of these cards is sort of the “star of the show”!  The clean, white card uses the Holly embossing folder and the more rustic card features the new “Cable Knit” embossing folder.  Neither is overly difficult which makes a nice easy to mass produce~~which is exactly what you need for holiday cards.

If you are local, you can sign up for the class here.  If you are not, you might want to purchase the supplies to create on your own.   You can do that here.

Thanks for stopping by.

When I saw the Tee Hee Hee stamp set come out in the holiday catalog, I knew it would be mine.

And it is!  Here is a Halloween card I made!

Ok–here is the scoop:   I LOVE Tuxedo Black  Memento Ink!  HAnds down, best black in Stampin’ Up! sells….if only it smelled like StayzOn!   In any case, if you aren’t planning on coloring on it, it works great (If you color in on Memento Ink with markers other than Blendabilities, it will run)!!

Background technique:   Bubbles!  Yup!  Bubbles!   take a little container (short, wide containers will work best for this)  and add water, a little dish soap, and a couple of drops of re-inker,  Start with a couple of drops and add more if you need to.  I used watercolor paper which worked well for this.   I have done this with regular whisper white before but if you want a lot of color, your paper will get “icky” (technical paper crafter word!).   Blow bubbles using a straw in the concoction you have just made.  Hold your paper up against the colored bubbles you have just created.  Let the bubbles “sit on the paper” until they pop.  Repeat until you are happy with it.   In this case, I used Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry concoctions and played around with both until I was happy.

Sponging around the caldron circle with Tangelo Twist and Crushed Curry added the right amount of spookiness needed!

Tee hee hee!

What DO conductors do?

Standard

Last night, I had the opportunity to go to THe Boston Pops City of Champions series.  Now–If you are a New England fan, you know that this might have been good in theory when they came up with this idea 6 months ago but now, well, it is a  City of …..well…not really sure but I don’t think “Champions” is the word to use.   ANYhow–I have apparently been to Symphony Hall once (according to my husband) but didn’t really remember it–(Everything is new again with this middle aged brain!).  THIS I will remember!   During the Pops concerts, they have little cafe tables set up so it is more casual than the symphony.  We had great seats and were about 50 feet away from Keith Lockhart!  No kidding!  Even saw him sweat!   Because of the theme of the show, they showed lots of clips of NE sports thru the years and brought out some big wig local athletes and other famous ppl (Andre Tippitt, Mike Barnacle, a bunch of local olympians, etc).  Well, at the end, they bring out Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots,  to conduct the final song.   My husband has always asked what, exactly, does the conductor do and do you REALLY need him?  I am fairly certain the answer to that is YES—you need him but my experience with conductors was getting detention for chatting during band practice in 9th grade.  I am pretty sure that Keith does more than that—-but that said, the orchestra sounded great with Bob Kraft conducting….and we know he is no conductor—so again, I ask, what DOES a conductor do??

Ok–that had nothing to do with today’s card…I don’t even know how to tie it in.  So I will just show you the card:

Yesterday was my sister’s 50th(!) birthday!!  Holy Cow!  Somehow when it was my OLDEST sister’s 50th birthday last year, I wasn’t as disturbed!  But yesterday, I just kept thinking, “I’m next!”!  I still have a couple of years but, man, I AM next!  Yikes!  Well, I hope that Kathleen had a birthday as perfect as she is!  (She IS the practically perfect one….but we love her none the less!)   This was the card I sent her.  Hope she liked it.   It was based on this sketch  from the Clean & Simple blog.   I didn’t stray too far as you can see.  I used a new stamp set that will be available in just 8 short days!!!  And that Designer paper—Available in 8 short days too!!  and the greeting….and the framelet to cut the greeting—all in 8 short days!!!!    (You get the idea!  Hope you can make my Catalog Kick off–On June 16th.  Check out the details here.

Stamp set:  Make a Cake, Itty Bitty Banners

Ink:  Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse

Paper:  Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Patio Party DSP (YUM!)

Other:  Big Shot, 3 1/2″ circle, 3″ Circle, Perfect Polka Dots, Bitty Banner Framelits, and the cutest little brads you ever did see!

Happy Birthday, K!

Ok–so it was only 98 Posts!

Standard

I thought I had 100 posts yesterday but it turns out that 2 were drafts that just didn’t make the cut! (You can only imagine what didn’t make the cut, right?!). That is ok–it will give me reason to celebrate with the NEXT post.

This is the same flower you saw yesterday—but with a fresh sort of “New Year” look to it!
I love this stamp—it is sold as a single stamp but you can do so much with it when you use the Fancy Flower punch,
the 5 Petal Flower Punch, and the 1/2 inch circle punch.

The DSP is Pocket full of Posies ($10.95) and the greeting is from “You’re Cherished) (8.95).

Simple, Clean and it makes me smile!
