Itty Bitty Accents packs a punch!

Standard

Remember this FREE stamp set from yesterday, You Brighten My Day?   Well I am not done with it yet!   Here is another card with a completely different look to it:

blog jan16

Oops–Looks like I should have put a bit more adhesive up on that top right—Sorry!

I love the bright pop of Tempting Turquoise when paired with Real Red.   This card literally has “love” written all over it.   I used the fantastically versatile Stacked with Love paper stack along with some fun Beach House washi tape.   The paper stack is so handy because one side of the paper is JUST black and white while the other side features some Coral, Cantaloupe, and Real Red.  Not only that but while there are some heart features in the paper, one side is definately neutral—because let’s face it, every card does NOT have love written all over it!  AND–you get 48 sheets of 4 1/2 ” x 6 1/2″ paper in the stack!  Surely you can do lots of projects with this one!

su stacked with love

This punch set matches not just the heart image from this stamp set but the star image as well!  And what’s more….this punch pack is ON SALE this week (*  Only until Monday night so get them now!)

Squeal!   LOVE when punches match!!

Here is a little tip for you:

When punching Glimmer Paper, turn the paper over so that the vinyl side is what you see through the back of the punch (Our punches work best used “upside down” so you can see what you are actually punching).   For some reason, it gives a better , cleaner punch….Trust me!

Leave me a message and let me know what you think.

Little Boxes and Free Stamps!

Standard

Well, the holidays are over, the tree is down, the kids are back to school, and I am BACK!

Time for life ,as we know it,  to resume.   As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, we were able to pre-order products from the new Occasions catalog ( which goes “live” tomorrow!) AND we were able to earn free products from the new SaleABration catalog (ALSO going “live” tomorrow!).  I know!   How lucky am I?   Sadly, my box came in during the “height” of the holiday crunch and I didn’t really get a chance to play with anything until this week.  I am not complaining…..Ok–I guess I am.  But–the good news is that I chose to play with my new stuff instead of un-decorating my house!  That is good news for YOU—Not for the people I live with.

Instead of showing you pictures of what my house currently looks like, I am going to show you some of what I created.

This is from a FREE stamp set called “You Brighten My Day” from the SaleABration  2015 catalog.  If you have not yet received one and would like one, please, please contact me and I will take care of that for you:

Blog jan6,2015

When I was a kid, my uncle (who I thought was a hippy, mind you), played the guitar and sang this song about “Little Boxes”. (It was the early 70’s!)  It is amazing what you can remember after 45 years…and what you can forget in 4 minutes!  Anyway, I digress (shocking!).   When I saw this stamp in this set, that is all I could think of.  So–just to mess with YOUR head, click on this link below so that YOU too, willl hear this song in your head every time you look at this set!  (Please note, Pete Seeger is not my uncle!)

This card is easy to put together because there is a punch that matches the shape of the house! BRILLIANT! It is the What’s Up punch.

I simply stamped the house image with Momento Ink on Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Smokey Slate cardstock and punched. I wanted one house to not” look all the same”   The “highlighted” house was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and colored using Blendabilities.

Here is a close up:

blog jan6.1.2015

Thanks for stopping by.  I am sorry that song will be stuck in your head ….forever!   To make it up to you, I would be happy to get you a SaleABration 2015 Catalog.   OR–you can see it live starting tomorrow here.

Happy to help you out with anything you might need.  Here is a list of what I used:

Stamp Set:  You Brighten My Day (SAB 2015)

Ink and Paper:   Momento Ink, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Smokey Slate, Basic Black, Going Grey Blendabilites, Cherry Cobbler Blendabities

When a “Piece of Cake” turns into a labor of love, get out your tools!

Standard

Happy Tuesday!  You know what Tuesday means:   New stuff on sale from Stampin’ Up!  Click here to check out this weeks deals.

This past week, a good friend was having a birthday.   I wanted a special card for her.  What I thought would be a piece of cake (get it?!), turned into a labor of love.  But I do love my friend so I was determined to make this work.

Here is the finished card:

blogoctober7That is right–she even got a matching envelope liner.   Here is the thing about this card~  There is hardly any stamping on it.  Easy, right?  Here is a close up of the detail.

Blogoct7.1

That is right!   It is all done with a punch.   I am not a fan of cutting!  If Stampin’ Up! had a matching punch for each stamp set they sold, I would buy them all!  Now those little candles need little flames.  And the punch does it all!

blogoct7.2

I decided that my little flames needed sparkle of some sort.  And I tried a lot of blingy things–gold foil paper, silver foil paper, gold glimmer paper, Champagne glimmer paper, silver glimmer paper, Dazzling Details of various colors, you name it!  The winner:  Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper!   After punching out (and keeping track of ) the little flames, I needed to attach them.  This is where the  labor of love comes in!   But–my father always taught me, you can do nearly anything if you have the right tools.  Sometimes, however, you need to “build” your own “right” tool.  And this is a staple in my craft room–the “Tiny Picker Upper”!

Blogoct7.3

Tiny Picker Upper

Here is how you can make your own Tiny Picker Upper:  Get a skewer (unused!).  Add a tiny glob of Tombo Multi Purpose glue and let it sit overnight.  It will eventually “dry” to a tacky little ball of stickiness at the end of your skewer.  There you have it–your own Tiny Picker Upper!  It will look gross so no one will steal it but it will be one of your best friends in your craft room! Trust me!

I used the Tiny Picker Upper to pick up the little flames and used a dot of that same magic adhesive (Tombo , “green glue”) at the end of the candles to attach it.  Voila!  Truth is , my friend is not 7….but that is all the candles I had patience for!

Supplies:

Stamp set : NONE!

Paper:  Whisper White, Smokey Slate, Bermuda Bay, Pistachio Pudding, Tangelo Twist, Strawberry Slush, Confetti Celebration, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Other:  Cupcake Builder Punch, Tombo Multipurpose Glue, Tangelo Twist Ribbon, Big Shot, Envelope Liner Framelits

Happy DAY!    Today is the first day we can order from the brand new Stampin’ Up!  Inspire, Create, And Share 2014-15 Catalog!!!

blog april29

BUT–we need to wait until 2 pm East coast time—argh!  I have a wish list a mile long and am trying to show some restraint but if you have seen the catalog–you know that is  hard.  And if you havent’ seen it, you should!  If you don’t currently have a demonstrator that you are working with, I would be happy to help you out.  Just contact me!

As a demonstrator, we get lots of fantastic perks like getting to see and then prepurchase some goodies before the actual catalog release date.  I think that is a major reason for many demonstrators to join Stampin’ Up!  (We tend to be an impatient group!).  Well, I did just that and have had the chance to play with a brand new fun set called Sea Street.   Can I just tell you that I want to live on Sea Street!  Even the crabs are happy on Sea Street.

Here is a sample of an easy card I whipped up with this adorable, happy set based on The Paper Players Sketch from last week!:

blog june2.1It is kind of ironic that I have a crab on a happy card.  Actually, when I saw this set, I knew immediately that it would be mine as sometimes, on rare occassions, I can be slightly–just slightly–crabby.   And I knew that I could make a great “Sorry I was crabby” card that would sure to get whomever I was crabby with, to forgive me.

But in the meantime, here is my happy card.  And, more good news!   Those fish can swim in either direction!   Not kidding!  I accidently stamped them “upside-down” and they look as great swimming left as they do swimming right!

After 2 pm, you can click here to see the whole set.

Squeal!!  Love this set!!

Ok–Off to finalize my first order wish list.  I will be including lots of new ribbon and paper so if you are interested in a ribbon share, please just let me know.   I will have details on this as well as my New Catalog Kick Off coming on June 28th–Mark your calendars!!   Stay tuned in the next day or two.

Stamp sets:   Sea Street, Yippee Skippee!

Ink and Paper:   Maritime DSP, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Real Red

Elephant Museum and Zoo Babies Card

Standard

I know I have been MIA for a bit.   Truth is, I was on a road trip to Knoxville, TN for the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2014!  My daughter’s team were the state champs for their challenge and level and earned this trip.  I am the team manager so I earned the right to drive the prop-filled van!  Actually, it was an amazing event and a very pleasant ride (until we hit Jersey—nothing  personal, Jersey!).   The highway we took nearly the whole way there and back, was lined with picturesque farms (At least it was picturesque to me—I think I want to live on a farm!).

On the way home, we passed this huge billboard in a cow pasture  in PENNSYLVANIA  advertising Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium– Free Admission.     I was thinking this is either  fantastic family fun or a horror film waiting to happen.   Being afraid it might be the latter, we passed on by.  BUT –when I got home, I checked it out (because and Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium is a hard thing to get out of your mind!) and it apparently is quite popular.  You can check it out here.

So that got me thinking about a card I made for my cousin before I left and forgot to post.  My cousin is a GRANDFATHER!!!!   I know, I can’t believe it either!!!   In any case, he has a granddaughter, Madelyn.   Here is the card I made for Grandpa Mike and Grandma Sue:

The DSP is from Gingham Garden and is retiring in jut a couple of days.   You do need to use your Stamp A Ma Jig for the words–there is no getting around that one.   My advice:  Move your Melon Mambo and Smokey Slate ink pads FAR apart from each other so you don’t accidently stamp your stamp in the wrong color when you get on a roll….You KNOW you’ve done it!!

Good news for you!  Everything on this card is still available….for a few days anyhow.   Be sure to click on the items below to get more info or order.

What is Easter without a Dip Dyed Egg?

Standard

Hello, Peeps!  (That is a little Easter greeting!!)

Before I get to my sample, I wanted to give you all a heads’ up.  As you know, Stampin’ Up! catalogs last for a year (well , the big ones anyway).  At the end of that year, a boatload of stuff gets retired to make way for the new goodies coming.  Well–that day is coming!  On Monday, Stampin’ Up! will release it’s list of retiring items.  BUT–unlike in the past, EVERYTHING on this list is first come, first serve and they will run out!–Everything!  Even STAMPS, this year.  SOOOOOO–here is my suggestion to you:   Get up on Monday and check out the retiring list.  Make your list of “Can’t live withouts” and order it immediately on my site (“Shop Now“) using this hostess code:  XZM2CY2M

Your order will ship right away so you won’t be disappointed that your “can’t live without” was everybody else’s “gotta have”.

Today, I have for you a card that my club members did this past month.  It uses the “Dip Dye” method and I think when you see it, you will immediately thing of your own egg dying experiences.

Here it is:blog april17

To get this effect, you simply ink up your white cardstock (I HIGHLY recommend Stampin’ Up!’s Whisper White—and not just because I sell it.  It really stamps wonderfully—better than your average cardstock!) using “direct to paper” (Translate:  Stamp your inkpad right on to the paper).  Next, use a darker color and repeat a little lower on the paper.  Finally, find your most egg-shaped punch and punch it out!

If you don’t own the Fringe scissors (yet!), order them!  But in the meantime, just start cutting with your regular scissors.  It will take longer (5 times longer, in fact) but it will work.

Finally, I know you are all wondering why I am using a retired item on my card.   Two reasons—Three, really:

1.  You can still get this embossing folder  on the clearance rack!  Boo yah!

2.  Some of you own it and need to be reminded to get it out and use it.

3.  It should have never been retired in the first place!  Just sayin’!

Ok–If I can help you out with any of the supplies used for this card–or any other card for that matter, just call on me.  I am happy to help.

Candy bars, Project Life, and …oh, yeah…a card!

Standard

Where oh where have I been?

Well–a lot has happened since I last blogged (which is WHY I last blogged!).  Let’s see:

First, my dear Destination Imagination team won first place in their state tournament (YEAH!) which means they are now heading to the Destination Imagination Global Tournament in Knoxville, TN (OH!).   You can read more about that here.

Then–Sale A Bration ended.   I loved the freebie products this year and hope you got the ones you wanted.

Ok–and then there were taxes….’nuff said!

And  mixed in there, there were some dance competitions, car issues, track meets and selling candy bars…..lots of candy bars.

And then yesterday, Stampin’ Up! makes this big announcement:su-becky higginsBecky Higgins and Stampin’ Up! have partnered to bring some Project Life EXCLUSIVES to Stampin’ Up!

I know, right?!  You either know what I am talking about and are doing a happy dance or, frankly, don’t care.   But let me tell you WHY you should care:  We all want to remember the “stuff” that makes up our lives—no matter what stage of life you are in.   Here is a little blurb on  Project Life by Becky Higgins:

  • Project Life is a solution-based approach to scrapbooking that was created to simplify the process in order to allow you more time to enjoy life! It requires no glue, no scissors, no tools, and no skills of any kind. The design of our products takes the guess work out of layout design so that you can focus on recording your everyday moments through your photos and journaling. The simple design is stylish and makes it possible for you to complete more pages in less time.
  • Becky Higgins, creator of Project Life, is a busy wife and mother who is passionate about capturing the little bits of life, and she’s making it easy for others to do the same. “It’s called Project LIFE because it’s about YOUR LIFE. Whatever your life is. Whatever your stage of life. Whatever your family circumstances. Whatever your lifestyle. Project Life is designed to help anyone + everyone get their pictures into a book,” says Becky. Her goal is to help others Cultivate a Good Life and Record It.

Here is some more info straight from Shelli Garnder, Stampin’ Up! CEO:

Happy 4712!

Standard

That’s right!  According to the Chinese calendar, it is 4712!   Explains why you feel so tired today, right?

It is Chinese New Year and I have a quick post for you.    I have a friend who adopted both her children from China.    Today is a big day for them.   In fact, in China, this is THE day of the year.   (I read that—I have nothing to back that up with).   This is the perfect card to celebrate the beginning of a new year!  While I love that you can switch out the color of the lanterns for any occasion, I feel this set is particularly perfect for Chinese New Year.   I even think the greeting sounds like a fortune you would find in a cookie!
